Pacemaker poking at the top

Hey everyone!

I had my pacemaker placed in for the first time in February of this year. I was holding my toddler today and for the first time ever he decided to push on my pacemaker scar. I of course had pain and it feels like it has agitated some nerves. Now I feel like the top of my pacemaker is poking up towards the skin more that it’s now more visible then before him doing this. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I suppose I should call my doctor tomorrow to get it looked at.

It's unlikely a child poking at it did any damage. My dog tripped me once and I put my hand out to break my fall, ended up with a fist shaped bruise right over my pacer. It was sore for a while but no harm done. If it'll make you feel better you can get it looked at, but I'd just ice and give it a few days to settle.

Hi there,

In your shoes,  I'd at least call the nurse at the clinic that did your implant and ask them whether you need to come in.  If you are feeling the device poking your skin up and this is new, my guess is they'll want to see it.  Hope it settles down for you!

Thanks guys! I appreciate it. I think I’ll call Monday just to see if they want to check it.

Pacemaker Moving

After my first PM was installed, it was a few weeks afterwards and I was putting my jacket on and reached far around to the right with my left arm. I felt the obvious movement restriction with reaching too far. After that, I noticed the PM had pushed out to where I could feel the wires under my skin. Never did have any issues with functionality or appearance. I don't think the PM really sets up permenently in your body. As long as your monitor is giving you the green light, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

You know you're wired when...

You have a little piece of high-tech in your chest.
