21 year old non-congenital heart block

Hello,

I am a new member and wanted to share my story for anyone who might relate or benefit from it. Last December of 2018, I was diagnosed with non-congenital complete heart block at the age of 20 with the only symptoms of extremely low heart rate and constant fatigue. By February of 2019 I underwent pacemaker implant surgery as symptoms were beginning become more severe. The cause of the heart block was never found byt since my surgery, I have felt 100% better with more energy and a heart rate that remains above 50 bpm. I was terrified before the procedure but am now so thankful for it and often forget the pacemaker is even there.

Stay strong!

Glad you found us and you are feeling better! Most of us never know why we get heart block. Do you know why they decided it wasn't congenital? Doesn't really matter, treatment is the same either way, just curious if they said why they think you didn't always have it.

Thank You! LSTUESSER

Its great to hear a success story, all too often on sites such as this all we hear about is problems.

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
