Carotid Sinus Hypersensitivity

Just got my 1st PM (a Medtronic Azure XT DR MRI SureScan to prevent sudden cardiac arrest from Carotid Sinus Hypersensitivity.

This is a relatively rare condition most affecting aging males that is beginning to get more attention as the Boomers age. But there are lots of unanswered questions.

Anyone out there with the condition and experience who would like to chat? I have some info and some questions.  Using the search tool for the subject, I found only two souls in 2009 without much comment.

Look forward to some responses and if anyone knows of a clinic or teaching hospital specializing in the subset of electrophysiology with CSS/CSH experience.

Carotid Sinus Hypertensitivity

Hi Josespm,

Sorry to hear of your problem. What it is to be a rarity!

You may find under this site's  'search' more information looking at' tilt' for the diagnositic tilt test and then send a private message to those that have experienced a cardiac arrest having had the test.

It may be worth searching Facebook for a group, or starting one yourself!  I have a cardiomyopathy etc. and there are groups posting on Facebook.

Here in the UK I have found a nice patient leaflet with a nurse contact telephone/email.

In the UK I have telephoned other city's hospital departments for advice, and  have also found people willing to help even from other countries. I have had some really helpful advice from an associate professor in the USA of late.

I sincerley hope your pacemaker is now making your life quality much better.

Best wishes,

Selwyn

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker interferes with your electronic scale.

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
