Experiment

I'm curious if anyone could help me understand something. I recently put up a post "Told I need a pacemaker" and I am scheduled to see an EP specialist on Tuesday 17th. I was told on the 4th of april that I need a pacemaker.

Since then I have completely stopped any physical activity, of which i used to do at least 5 days a week. Since then I have not felt any dropped heart beats, feel much more rested after a nights sleep and just feel overall mentally better.

My confusion and question lies with the fact that with activity(i.e running, weightlifting, martial arts) and then resting comes signs of advanced av block. But without activity and just overall taking things easy and not stressing my heart I don't have any signs of advanced av block. Not a skipped beat or anything noticeable, since I am now constantly checking my pulse.

I plan on asking my EP on Tuesday but was curious if anyone had any insight or ideas!??

thanks

Maybe Athletic heart syndrome?

Athletic heart syndrome can cause both very low heart rate and arrhythmias. It is harmless,...and the symptoms are reversible over time if you stop exercising over

When you see your EP, ask about it.

not sure

That's weird because when they gave me a stress test and I was running on the treadmill I actually had a few signals get through...I think that's why I never had any symptoms, because I was so active. That will be a good question for the EP. I would request a stress test so he can see it for himself. The 2nd EP I went to watched the heart monitor for about 10 minutes while I was on the treadmill to see what was going on. If it was me and I had a choice between no exercise and a PM (if they say that will help, which it sounds like it would), I'd definitely go with the PM. You shouldn't have to stop exercising, that would be more detrimental to your health in the long run; plus you wouldn't be happy. Keep me posted! Good luck!
