Hi everyone,  I am Denise. I had my pacer implanted 8/1/19 due to Sick Sinus syndrome . Still trying to get used to it. I am 55 years old.. I found this site and have been reading everyone's experiences. It has been a blessing finding this site. It has helped me  a lot to just relax; and accept my new friend 'Hope '.

Still has some soreness at the site because it was placed in the muscle. Plan to take my first flight, in December, a little uneasy but I know I will be ok.

Wishing all of us long lives and continued blessings.

How is everything else going outside of the incision?  I am about three weeks in ..... I hear all this about implanting under the muscle ? I was never asked one way or the other so I guess mine is just under my skin ?

Pacemaker placement

Just under the skin is the easier placement, both the implant procedure and recovery.  It's also easier to replace the PM when the time comes.  However, it's more visible.  Women tend to prefer it buried under the muscle rather than the breast tissue because it doesn't show, or move as much. It's also supported by muscle and doesn't show when wearing more revealing clothing. Guys tend to not care about such things so go with the simper solution.  It would be good to understand the options, though.
