I asked the same thing

Hi~ I asked the same question a few months ago. The responses I got were that it was okay to go to the chiropractor. Since then I have gone about 3 times with no troubles at all. I just told them I had a pacemaker and where it was located. I waited to have my back adjusted for about a month in a half though as I was worried about wires getting moved around(although I'm sure they would have been just fine) I say go ahead and go and just make sure they know you have a PM~ if you feel that they are being to rough or aren't comfortable with what they are doing make sure to speak up~ good luck and I hope you are back into alignment soon:-)

Chiropractic helps

I needed once or twice a month chiropractic adjustment prior to my emergency PM and needed it post op as well. I had the same concerns about leads and my med Drs were not in agreement for 60 days but I have a great Chirporactor and he carefully adjusted my left shoulder back and neck 4 days after surgery, relieving much post op pain. Have had 4 adjustments and two massages in the first 5 weeks. Make sure you are seeing a pro and tell him or her all you concerns.

manual adjustments and activators

HI, I just posted a similar question in a different forum and I could not find anything related to chiropractors.

I had just started a chirpractic treatment when I had the heart problem. As I was told to avoid certain things for 6 weeks to avoid dislodgement of the leads, I went back to the chiropractor to discuss and he said he would use the activator instead of the manual adjustments.

I asked the technician at the device clinic but she did not know what an activator or manual adjustments are. The chirpractor is very experienced. He says that a manual adjustment in my neck would be equivalent to me moving the neck to both sides, but I think the "twist: they do to adjust the vertebrae in the cervical area would be like a jolt that may have a negative impact on the leads.

CAn anyone advise? I am going 3 times a week and the sessions are very brief as he is going to increase gradually.

Thanks

Liliana
