Pacemaker humming

When it's really quiet when napping or going to sleep at night I can hear my pacemaker humming in my ears.  It's no annoying or troublesome, just noticeable.  Is this normal and has anyone else had the same experience from time to time?

What tune?

Are you sure it's not tinitis?  I don't know how it could hum without being faulty.  Perhaps you can get a recording to prove to you doctors (and yourself) that it is real?

Humming pacemaker

Just got my Pacemaker 2 weeks ago and I have tinnitus. I’m so used to my tinnitus now I can tune it out but I did notice a slightly different sound one night. I have a ceiling fan and got it adjusted so that it runs on high. This gives me just enough “ outside” noise so I don’t hear it. Hope it improves for you.

Tinnitus and heart disease

I also have tinnitus. It started a few months before my heart issues that resulted in a pacemaker. The ear specialists at the house Institute in Los Angeles told me that the ears are finely tuned to heart issues, high blood pressure, etc. Not all tinnitus is related to something bad, but a lot of heart patients have tinnitus. I do not notice it 99% of the time, but it is always there to varying degrees. i notice it most when going to sleep also.

So, I am not sure if you are hearing your PM or you have tinnitus, but it sounds very much like tinnitus -- usually a low level ringing of the ears.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
