Post Pacemaker fitting

Hi everybody, I am glad I found this site as it has put some of my concerns at rest.

I had my pacemaker fitted on the 15th June 2020 so I still have the wound dressing on, I was glad to see other comments re the last few days as I had the op on Monday , Tuesday I felt fine as I was still drugged up, wednesday felling light headed, Thursday noticed my oxygen saturation levels wer low about 94% was told to breathe deeper, Friday oxygen levels stabilised stil feling slightly light headed better by the evening. It was a shock as I am quite fit and not on any medication.

Welcome to the club you didn't want to join.  There are a lot of us on the forum who were going along well with their lives then ended up with a pacemaker. Standard story.  

There are a lot of experienced people with a lot of information if you need it.  Just have to ask.  

Hope your adjustment to your pacemaker goes well and you can get back to a "normal" life.

Since I got my pacemaker almost 6 years ago as a result of surgical complication, I have been amazed how many fit people who do marathons, mountain biking and so on are on here with pacemakers, usually expressing the same surprise that you have with yours.  And of course people much younger too - just goes to show how fitness is not particularly relevant (though I wonder if some people have strained the heart too much?  Not sure), and I think broadly it is just like some of us need glasses to correct our vision.  In most cases it isn't anything we've done, just "that's life"!

Fortunately we are in good company - I have been surprised how many people I know have them, and of course hundreds of thousands of people get them every year.

Adjustment time is needed.  Your body will adjust to the PM.  You mentally will take longer to adjust.  Just followin your DR advise.
