FOUR WEEKS

HELLO

I AM IN MY FOURTH WEEK SINCE MY PM WAS IMPLANTED. AM FINALLY STARTING TO FEEL BETER, CANNOT GO BACK TO WORK AS OF YET (ONLY A PART-TIME JOB). I STILL HAVE RESTRICTIONS THAT WOULD LIMIT MY WORK POSITION. I WISH MY DOCTOR HAD SAT DOWN AND EXPLAINED WHAT THINGS TO LOOK FOR THAT WERE NORMAL AFTER A PM. HAVE HAD TO CALL THE DOCTOR SEVERAL TIMES TO ASK QUETIONS. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

It seems like many of us have had the same experience. As much as I like my EP, she prepared me for the surgery and the technical workings of a PM but there was very little about how I would feel, the recovery time or lists of what to do and what not to do. That is why this site is so very helpful! Don't hesitate to call your doctor though---maybe they'll get the hint eventually and give us more information up front.

I've always said asking questions is one of the most important things a new recipient should do. Most doctors like well informed patients. To keep learning, don't stop asking your doctor or post messages on this site.

My doctor had a technical assistant who was great about explaining everything before AND after the surgery. She called me every other day for a week after my implant to see if I had problems or questions. And made me feel free to call her anytime.

I was very impressed. After reading posts regarding this topic, I feel even more grateful.

Anyway, WELCOME to the club. You will like it here. Another 4 weeks and you'll be ready to rock and roll...LOL

Take care,

Suze

I'm glad you are feeling better. It just takes some time and the doctors don't seem to know that. They are great at putting them in but they still don't know what it's like. Since everyone is different we all go through different things but there are commonalities. Please stay in touch and let us know how things are going.
Take care friend,
Rusty

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
