Thorpe Park

Hey everyone! Curious if anyone has experience of going to thorpe park? What did you think, did you go on everything and feel safe in terms of your pacemaker moving/damaging you etc?

Thinking of booking to go there sometime next year (pandemic dependent ofc) but not sure if i should. I'm currently 3 months post surgery from my first replacement where i got a dual lead fitted. The pacemaker is not under the muscle unlike my previous one so im very aware of it and scared of hitting it or anything! I know my Dr said i shouldn't worry and should just live a normal life but i haven't asked specifically about rollercoasters.

I've heard there are some rides we're not supposed to go on anyone know why? - without getting too graphic please (my imagination will run away with itself..). And how would i find out which those are?

Many thanks!

I'm not much one for roller coasters or amusement parks in general but the the no-nos I've been told about are those with magnetic brakes.  Most of the newer, large, roller coasters have magnetic brakes, or so I'm told.

Reading your bio, it sems strange that you had a single lead PM for heart block.  Have you any information about this.  Curiousity, cats, and all that.

Had to google Thorpe Park! Roller coasters :o)  As long as your leads are over a year old, you should be fine. I do roller coasters with no issues, my doctor is ok with it. The only thing I avoid is magnetic brakes. That's usually the newer coasters with the really fast start/stop. Anything else is ok as long as you don't have new leads, give new leads a good year to embed before pushing it on a coaster. Some people find straps on some rides to be uncomfortable. It all depends on the ride and your placement. It won't do any damage, we will bruise up long before the pacer can be hurt.

Like the Energizer Bunny, you keep going.
