I saw this work out on the internet. Seems to me it would be a safe one for pacemaker users. And does anyone know if planking is safe.

Plank position is safe

But be prepared for twinges from the PM pocket for months after implantation.

Stretching muscle under load - eccentric contraction - is what happens to the quads when running down hill.  Tim Noakes bible shows evidence that, over time, it damages the muscle, with accumulation of fibrous tissue.

IIRC, isometric exercises have a reputation for bulking up muscles - improves muscle definition - without delivering as much strength improvement as isotonic exercise.  Planking is very much isometric - no muscle shortening, just sustained load.

It all depends on what your goal is.

Planking is safe. All exercise is safe, do what you like and what feels good.
