help

Hi everyone,
well I flew out to Ohio last week to see my cardio. I have a biotronik cylos PM and am still slowly learning about it. I love this site, but most of you have a different kind of PM so things get a little confusing for me.

The Cylos is supposed to detect a drop in BP. My BP is very low so I faint all the time. I found out this week that my BP is so low that 24 hours a day I amon the threshold of syncope. I just got my rate response/senor turned up. That means that when my BP drops the PM should sense that quicker and respond.

I am writing this bc I am hoping that someone else has a PM like this one who also faints due to low BP. I would like to here your story and if the PM has helped you.

Thanks for your time,
Christine

You don't say what your lower rate is. Mine was initially set at 55bpm but after continued trouble and near syncope it was raised to 70 bpm. Much better now.
Good luck, Boatman

My lower rate is set to 60BPM. I asked to see if he would change it to 70 BPM, but he he seemed to think the only adjustment needed was the senser.

Hey!

The heart rate dropping is what causes the low blood pressure. So the 25 point drop i was talking about is the cause of the fainting. Also mu last sentence should have been I have resumed a normal life. BOB

I have a Medtronic En Pulse Dr dual.

Mine was first set at 50bpm and a few months later i passed out. So after telling about how i felt my EP reset mine to 70 BPM and turned on the rate response. If my heart rate drops by 25 bpm over 2 minutes time it kicks my rate up to 100 bpm for 2 minutes. Then it returns to 70 bpm. I have about 800 of these episode each 6 month period. I have not been dizzy or passed out since this was set on my PM. This has been a godsend to me I have resumed a normal live. Bowlrbob

Private message me if you want more info. My diagnosis is VasoVagal Syncope also know as NCS and Bradycardia.

Hi, Bini.

My BP would drop to 60/40 and my HR would go to 4-6 BPM. Scary! I was blacking out and hurting myself badly for over 4 years before I got my pm via emergency surgery. I have an Ela Symphony DR 2550 dual pm--my low rate is set to 60 BPM. I have been great since the PM and have not had any more symptoms. The pm picks up the slack well. I'm only pacing 25-30% of the time right now and mostly at night. Like Boatman and Bowlrbob, I have NCS/VVS and severe bradycardia. Always feel free to private message me, too. I also just got off the Toprol XL as a beta blocker so YAY!

Feel better and pace better!
