Medication

Hello everyone , I had my pacemaker implanted in April this year,I was on Bisoprolol but had side effects ,recently changed to Sotolol 80mg twice a day but experiencing excessive sweating that is so embarrassing just wondering if anyone else was experiencing this. This week I had to have an Angiogram because of breathlessness the result showed there wasn't any blockages or narrowing that could have been causing the breathlessness. Now have to wait to see the next step to finding the cause . All a bit worrying .

Sotalol Side- Effects

by IAN MC - 2021-08-04 06:39:58

Sotalol, like all beta blockers, can cause a whole range of side-effects. These are usually mild and short-lived.

However , excessive sweating triggered by sotalol  may indicate that your blood sugar levels are way out of normal range. If it were me , I would see my Dr as soon as possible and have them checked.

There are of course many other possible causes.

Maybe?

Your question made me think: I have been having a rough time with the summer heat--thought it was just my age! I get uncomfortably hot very quickly & I sweat ALL OVER. I mean, I don't get dripping wet, but I can feel it head to toe. I have started a couple of new meds & have had my metoprolol dosage doubled in recent months. For me, if this is a side effect, it is not severe enough to outweigh the benefits that I am experiencing. I would think that the shortness of breath is of more concern, but I wouldn't panic just yet. There can be so many reasons for it. To return to my summertime issues, I told my dr that I find it harder to breathe when I am out in the heat. You know what she said? "Don't go out in the heat!" Best wishes to you.

This is a side effect of many beta blockers and sotolol isn't an exception. It's one of the better (and more toxic) of the antiarrythmics, too. It's something to watch closely. Also watch for any other known symptoms. You really have to stay on top of this drug.  It's the reason I have a pacemaker or at least so soon..

You know you're wired when...

You have a T-shirt that reads “Wired4Sound”.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
