Pacerlee, You might wish to read the experience of Trevor in the above article?  You may be in a different position to Trevor - your Bio/history tells us nothing - but it is inspiring to read of the benefits of Tai Chi and exercise in general.  Of course always discuss with your doctors what you wish to achieve and maybe work initially with a cardiac physiotherapist to learn what you can safely manage.  Enjoy

It's ok to practice but sparring isn't as a good idea. A direct hit to the pacer won't damage the pacer, but we aren't so tough.

I can endorse the medical benefits of Tai Chi as long as it is none contact.

Both balance and flexibility are improved by Tai Chi + Mental health benefits. 

I would try to join a group with an instructor.
