I had a pacemaker since 2002 and ever since then my life has been a total blessing.
I think it's a question of swim style and PM tuning

Traditional training for pool swimming is to keep the shoulders as level as possible, so there's very little feed into an accelerometer. And breath management is a key part of swim training, so any RR feed based on breathing (e.g. BostonSci's MinuteVentilation) won't be much help. I know, I've tried.
Different if you're an open-water swimmer, much more upper body movement as you lift the head and check for the marker buoy, so I think that's just a question of getting the settings adjusted to give a lot of RR from relatively little movement.
Last in-person device check I had, my EP-tech said that they are hearing good things about the CLS-RR in Biotronik PMs - but no-one fits them anywhere near where I live. And I've adjusted my swim style to cope with the limitations of my BostonSci Accolade (which was carefully tuned for road-cycling).
If that's too cryptic for you, send me a PM and I'll expand.
Best wishes.
