SWINE FLU ? PNEUMONIA

Another thought is that there is a Jab available for pneumonia which is available for free to the ederly and patients at risk in the UK. As death from the swine flu is often from the onset of pneumonia as a further complication it is probably well worth making sure you are fully protected. This jab I am sure is available in the US and elsewhere. Cheers Peter

Yes, we have free pneumonia for the elderly and compromised here in Oz. A caring GP will make sure it is given. Mine gave me a shot last year. Cheers

I assume you mean: VACCINE....

pneumo vaccines are usually recommended for the elderly as well as high risk patients with compromised immunities and chronic health problems. In the states, they are usually given every 5 years.

I don't know if there is evidence out there that suggests an h1n1 pneumonia prevention with the pneumo vaccine, although the vaccine should be administered regardless of h1n1 infection in individuals as I stated above.
