Transplant update

16 days after my heart transplant I shall be going home from hospital today. My temporary pacemaker wires have been removed.

At which point I will not really qualify for membership here and hope never to qualify again although that could always change.

This forum is incredibly useful and supportive and I can honestly say that living with wires for the last 4  years has been made so much easier for being here.

Thank you all.

Atiras, firstly I am delighted that you will be leaving hospital today following your heart transplant.  I hope that you are feeling better already and that you will continue to do well in the future.  It is just wonderful news.

You certainly qualify for membership of the Pacemaker Club in more ways than you will ever know.  You have made and continue to make valuable contributions here, giving hope to so many who may be facing a similar journey to yours.  I would like to ask you to stay with us, to pop in from time to time to let us know how you are doing.

Whatever decision you come to, I wish you well Atiras.  Your journey has been a truly remarkable one and you deserve the very best in the future.

Gemita xx

I'm happy to stick around and share what is useful. Just can't guarantee I won't be spending most of my time having a new life,

Well done. Delighted to hear you are on the mend. I wish you many years of good health.

Just watch yourself with the immune suppressant therapy and take infections seriously.

Keep fit and exercise.

Perhaps you will see my friend at the World Transplant Games?

Atiras,

That's great news.  As a PHC alum (or is it emeritus), you're welcome to come back and touch base at any time. You've certainly found the best way of exiting the club.

Best to you!  I hope you do check in every now and then and let us know how you are doing.  I think your information would be invaluable to some of us on this forum for ourselves or somebody we know.

You know you're wired when...

You have an excuse for being a couch potato.
