Feeling good

In April I had to have my 3rd pacemaker operation since January 2020. I had been informed by the pacemaker clinic that my rv and ra leads were failing and draining the battery. 
I have a CRT pacemaker. The third lead was working normally.

I had spells of feeling unwell since last year and I was sent for an echocardiogram.I have a mitral valve prolapse which I have had for over a year.

I thought that because I have a bedside monitor anything untoward would be picked up. Apparently a full check is done every 6 months and something else every 2 months ( I forget what- this is where I need a notebook with me)

The monitor let them know that there was a problem. I had my operation 11 days after the clinic got in touch with me.

The pacemaker clinic said to get in touch with them first if I felt unwell.

Good news- ever since my leads were replaced I have felt extremely well. I have just returned from Italy where I was going up steep inclines and steps without a problem! 
Hopefully I won't have another pacemaker operation for a while!

Welcome home Aberdeen and I hope Italy didn’t disappoint?  

You have been through a great deal and I am so glad that the outcome has been so successful.  All the signs look good for a quieter pacing period ahead and I hope you get a reasonably long battery life out of your new device and that your RV/RA leads will continue to function well.

Can we safely say a success story now?  You have certainly tested your new system to the full.  I wish you lots of luck going forward.  Really excellent news

Italy was wonderful! My tenth visit there. 
I am hoping that my health stays the same and I don't have to tell family and friends about any more pm operations!

Since the  surgeon implanted the new leads in a different way I am hoping I don't have any pacemaker operations for a while. Years I hope!
