abdominal pain

Hi has anyone experienced almost constant twitching on the left of your stomach and severe abdominal pain after being breathless, the pain lasts about 10 minutes then subsides and goes away. This has happened 4 times in the last 3 weeks my doctor is baffled. I have read that this can be caused by a ICD lead dislodgement.Any help/advise would be appreciated

Abdominal Pain

I did not have pain, but what I had was a thumping on my left abdominal, it was exactly as the pacing, with every heart beat/pacing I had a thumping and that interfered with my breathing, my cardiologist thought it was a loose lead, but it turned out to be an eletrical issue that was interfering with the pacing, so he changed the voltage going through one of the leads, that took care of the issue, and that happened today, so we shall see. Your issue could be related as well to what I went through.

Good luck

Pacing the diaphragm

This isn't unheard of. You're just one of many who have reported this here.  Sometimes it's a cracked lead but most often it's just that the lead is placed too near the diaphragm and it's getting paced as well as the heart.  Turning down the  pacing voltage is usually the solution, as long as there is sufficient capture margin.  It is usually something that happens immediately, when there is plenty of capture margin (that doesn't get optimized for a while). This is the normal (simple) solution and works probably 99% of the time.

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
