Fever

Is it common to get a low grade fever of 99.4 after ICD placement.  Mine was placed yesterday on

8/15/22.  Thank you.

Elevated Temp

By definition, a temperature must be greater than 100.4 to technically be called a fever, and most providers are not going to intervene for less than that. That being said, any surgery will trigger an inflammatory reponse so that might be the reason for an elevated temp. Also, holding very stiil and avoiding deep breaths can cause atelectasis, a sort of collapsing of the little air sacs in your lungs, which can lead to pneumonia. You should be taking 10 deep, slow breaths every hour while awake, and do 3 big coughs afterwards. If you do develop a fever greater than 100.4, notice redness or drainage around your wound, call your doctor as soon as possible.

I had a 98.8F "fever" for about three days (one of the "days" was just night-sweats that night) when I had covid.  I normally run in the mid 96s to low 97s so it was high for me. It came right back down to 97.4 after.
