Ventricular Lead Placement (3) Original Threads from 8/19 and 8/13/22

Hello Everyone I'm back,

Just had visit with EP to plan PM insertion in Jan '23. He will do a basal septum LBB placement of a dual chamber device using the Medtronic 3830 lead and PM. This should give "physiologic pacing" and greatly reduce the risk of pacemaker induced cardiomyopathy down the line. I hope there are no insertional complications! Anybody already have LBB area pacing? How is it working?

Hi FG, good to hear from you that you have made a decision about getting a pacemaker and that you have been offered a basal septum LBB (left bundle branch) placement.  

There are a few members here as you will know that have LBB pacing and I hope they will see your message and give us their thoughts.  We hope you will return to let us know how you are doing from time to time, so that we may learn from your experience too.  Your questioning has been challenging and I am sure the knowledge you have gained will help you to get the most from your pacemaker and from your doctors in the future.  I wish you lots of luck with the implant on the 23rd January. 

Are you able to confirm whether your placement will be the non-selective LBB pacing position or the selective LBB pacing position?  You kindly provided a Conduction System Pacing chart earlier and I attach the link for other members to see the various placement sites.  I found it very helpful to pinpoint the exact lead position

I have LBBB pacing with a CRT-D.    It is non-selective.  I am 100% paced.

  I received the unit on September on the 15th.  

I have to say that the entire unit works great.  My E.F. increased from 19 to 29 in 3 weeks.  It can take up to 6 months to notice any improvement.  But I noticed an improvement in my breathing, etc. after about 10 days. The E.P. I see informs me I am doing "amazingly well".

I have my next echo in January and will be surprised if E.F. has not increased further.   

It has greatly increased my energy level and overall quality of life.

The only slightly funky thing I noticed is for a few weeks after implant, when I laid on my left side, I could feel the device pacing.  However, I rarely am aware of that sensation now. 

I was very apprehensive about receiving  the device.  But, now just slightly over 3 months after surgery, I have absolutely no regrets.
