QUESTION

As I just received my Metronic PM this past Jan. 20 I am trying to gather all the info I can digest in preparing for Spring.  I asked my Cardiologist when I met with him on Jan. 27 for my first checkup. My question was, using a riding mower to cut my grass.  I know the motor won't be any issue as it's far enough away ( 2 feet, at least) but I have been reading about the vibration or 'jiggling' over uneven lawn.

My cardio guy said, try it and if there's  problem, don't do it -- not the answer I am looking for.

If peope with PMs can run marathons and lift weights etc. and the PM keeps up with their activity, how can sitting my butt on a lawnmower for half an hour cause an issue.

Anybody got any feedback from mowing???

vibrations

It's only an issue if you pace with rate response. RR senses motion when we are active. The vibrations on the mower may fool it into thinking you are working out and raise your rate. It's harmless, I don't know why he'd say don't do it. It just feels weird.

Lawnmower rider reporting in

I'm the chief lawnmower rider at my house. I don't let anyone else do it. It's my thinking time and I'm afraid others will mow my posies.

My pacemaker is a CRT-P and the Boston Scientific tech said riding mowers are not problem.

However I can't speak for others. I know that AgentX86 isn't permitted to ride one.

Yesterday I moved to a new place in my mind and realized how bad I felt 'before' and the difference my pacemaker has made.
