Mild Shortness of Breath

Hi Everyone!

Just before I had my PM implanted last June 2007 due to complete heart block I was beginning to walk. I had got up to the point where i could walk about 1 mile each day.

Since 1999 I have had to deal with Chronic Fatigue, anxiety, and the loss of vision in my right eye. So, I was very pleased about this new ability to walk that far.

My shortness of breath is much better than it was a few months ago. It doesn't happen all of the time. For instance, I began walking yesterday on level ground and was able to walk about about almost 300 steps without stopping. I went very slow. Today, I doubled that! So, I'm very happy about that.

It seems like I notice the shortness of breath that kinda hangs around for awhile when it's time for my nerve pill and also when I have eaten something really sweet. Weird.

I am changing cardiologists, so, I'm gonna ask him about this on the first of April when I have my appointment. My numbers are set at 60/130.

There is still a lot of things I don't understand about the pacer. I'm not even sure I'm asking the right questions. How do you ask the correct questions if you don't know what you are talking about!?! LOL!

If anyone can comment on this post I will appreciate it very much.

God Bless,
Sandra

Congratulations on the walking....keep it up! Walking is one of the best things you can do for the heart. I suffer from shortness of breath as well...not sure if it is about needing to loose 15 - 20 pounds or the actual heart problem. I take it in stride though, know my limitations, and do not do the overkill thing. Their is no wrong questions to ask....so ask away! I had many questions and concerns when I first got my pm, and even more once I had it replaced due to recall, Their is alot of things that I do not totally understand about it, and I am quick to ask my Cardiologist/Pacemaker Nurse questions no matter how dumb they may think they are.

Keep smiling,
