Massage, stretching

I had a normal procedure which went well a little over 2 weeks ago. Before the procedure I had a routine of 20 to 30 minutes of stretching, which helps me generally speaking. Since the procedure I severely limited what I do for fear of causing a problem with my pacemaker. So at this point, is it safe to get a massage on my right shoulder, because it's sore, which I never really experienced before.

Stretching it out

Start back with your stretching routine--just take it slow and gentle with the overhead strecthes. Give yourself a week or longer to get back to your previous level. When it comes to stretching, it really is slow and steady that wins the race.

Yes, it's safe to get a shoulder/arm massage. Lying on your front might still be uncomfortable because of the swelling, but it won't hurt the pacemaker or leads. Most masseurs have a lot of pillows and bolters they can use to help you position yourself in a way that works.

Enjoy getting back to normal.

Right side?

Is your pacemaker on the right side?  Mine is on the left. I asked my cardiologist when it would be ok to get a massage. I think I waited a month. Ask your cardiologist or EP if it's ok to get a massage.
The masseuse rolled up towels which were placed in my arm pits and held me up better when I was lying on my stomach for that part of the massage.

My left arm and shoulder were greatly helped by massage. It took a good while of going for massages but my arm and shoulder are just fine now.

Hopefully you know to use your arms and just keep the elbow below the shoulder.

sure

As long as the person doing the massage is aware of (and avoids!) where all your new hardware is, and you keep the elbow below the shoulder, a massage is a great idea.

You know you're wired when...

Airport security gives you free massages.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
