Congratulations on making it through all those years. 

I am so sorry to hear about you losing your partner. Old age sucks and can certainly be cruel.

I just noticed that you posted a bit about your life story. I have not yet read it, but I will. I don't know if you hold the record, but you have to be pretty close to being the longest person paced. You should write a book! I wish you would. I would love to know more about the details of all the trials and tribulations you've been through in all those years. I'll go back and start reading your previous posts. I obviously missed them when you originally posted. You have really sparked my interest.

Keep doing what you are doing, because it is obviously working!

I believe you are the longest paced member

Thank you for your wonderful message of support.   I am only 5 years into pacing so it is reassuring to know that you have had a very full and happy life with your pacemaker.

I think you beat them all.  You do seem to be the longest paced Pacemaker Club member that I can find.  I have found two other members paced since 1975 and 1978 respectively, but 58 years of being paced, surely a record on the Pacemaker Club??

I was so sorry to hear the sad news about your dear husband.  The longer we spend together the more difficult the parting and yet the richer our memories, memories that can never be erased.  And of course you see your husband in your children and 11 grandchildren.  That sounds like a wonderful family to have around you.  You must be very proud of your achievements "together".

Encouraging Post

Thank you for your post. It will be a really useful one to quote when parents of young children who need a pacemaker post on this forum.  It will also be useful to cite to younger adults and teens in the same position who post needing reassurance when facing a lifetime of pacing. 

It's probably a little cheeky to ask, but a post from you for parents of young children explaining how you felt about receiving a pacemaker as a young child would be incredibly useful.  Many of us cannot tap into the feelings of a young child who finds themselves in those circumstances because we have received our devices as adults or older teens.  

Your experiences, particularly from a mother and grandmother, would be useful.  

I'd also like to express how very sorry I am to hear that you have lost your husband. It must be so difficult to adjust after all those years together.  

Look after yourself and thank you for sharing some of your story.

Just on the topic of 'longest paced member', there was someone who said recently that August 6 was their birthday and also their 60th anniversary of being paced. I recall that post because though I am only three years paced, I was born two months after that person. 

Regardless,  these devices are such an amazing gift!
