I had a smart meter installed when I wasn't home . Later the next day I called the local power company to have it move to a pole near the street.I was given a thousand reasons that the smart meter posed no threat to my device. Actually, I had to get the local newspaper reporter to help me. My guess is that the power company did not want the bad press so they moved it from my house to a pole near the street about 150 feet away from its previous location. I have researched Smart Meters and my research has convinced me that I don't want this device anywhere near my device. I suggest to you all to research them as well, and make your own decicsion . Geo

I wear my tin foil hat whenever I go by my meter. I also have a electronic water meter reader. Still alive.

Here are the facts:
People are exposed to far lower levels of RF from smart meters than from many other electronic devices used in everyday life, such as Wifi routers, cell phones, and microwave ovens, to name a few.
if there is a magnet in the the smart meter you would have to be hugging it to have any effect.

The wemissions from smart meters are very small. Very, very, small. They use a "mesh" technology, where one meter talks to the meter closest to it and it comminicates to the next, until the information gets to a collecting receiver somewhere in the area. Only the power needed for the transmission is needed and they're not constantly communicating, only when "pinged".
There is nothing about this technology that is any way dangerous.

Smart meters use 868-MHz (UK) or 2.4-GHz.
868-MHz is sometimes called LoRa or Long Range and 2.4-GHz is short range, but widely used in WiFi of all descriptions. Your router, smart toaster, pacemaker bedside monitor all use it.
These signals are everywhere and regulated for public safety.
I have a lot of these devices running on 2.4-GHz and operate my own Zigbee mesh for meters, temperature etc.
I certainly don't have any worries healthwise on using them and in any case, if you don't have any, your neighbours will.

Everyone has an opinion, I respect that, but since smart meters have caused many fires, that's another reason mine is on a pole away from my house. I suggest researching the subject thoroughly before reaching a conclusion. Also, any opinion from a power company is worthless,do your own homework and get objective answers. Geo

the object of the meter is to see how much electric used. by placing it far away how do you know they are reading your usage. They have placed these meters all over my neighborhood. Not one fire has been started.

As I said do your own research . Planes are the safest mode of transportation, however, if you are on one that crashes, then it doesn't matter what the odds are! Research will show anyone willing to be open-minded that these meters are manufactured In China and many fires have resulted since they were installed on homes. As I have stated everyone needs to do their own research, The truth is the truth whether you believe it or not, it is still the truth. Geo

If you mean for the usage of eclectricty? That sends your usage to the power company. Instead of having someone come out an read the electric meters once a month. If that is what you mean?. I have one that is installed on the side of my home. Occasionally i walk by it, and also look at it,do not seem to have any problems.
