Chafing / soreness around incision scar tissue

Hello people,

It's been a few months now since I received my (first) pacemaker and overall, all is well. I'm still feeling it when it kicks in, and when it runs a self test, but I'm used to the feeling by now. The scar has healed well, no signs of swelling, redness, or anything like that.

I do however feel soreness around the scar tissue, especially if it's warm and I'm wearing clothes that rub against the area. Do you all have any tricks for reducing this? Creams, patches to put on under the clothes or anything like that?

For me i mentioned to my acpuncturist the problem with the scar tissue.  She  knew what to do and after a few treatments all is well.

You could try the search icon for this one.  I'm not being funny but if you search on 'bra straps' you'll get a lot of information re; which fabrics / padding may protect a scar from irritation and you may find posts which also tell you which protective padding isn't helpful.

I'm not suggesting you wear ladies underwear to keep your choice of padding in place of course, although the choice is yours!

The ladies know

Penguin's suggestion is a good one. Us ladies have a lot of experience with scar tissue that remains sensitive even after it's healed.

I don't think there's one answer or one that works all the time.

I have found that keeping the area mosturrized seems to prevent some of the sensitivity. And of course, trying to stop the thing that's rubbing it from rubbbing it. A soft, old-old t-shirt under my clothes seems to be the best solution for the days when my scar is bothering me.

It does get better. It's been almost a year now since my surgery, and the sensitivity still comes and goes, but mostly goes these days.

moisturizing

It helps to keep it moisturized. I asked a plastic surgeon. She said she could sell me something expensive but really, anything all natural will do- vitamin e, aloe, coconut oil, cocoa butter- just make sure it doesn't have any extra ingredients.

Still early days.

Surgical scars can feel odd for years.

All I get is itching right on the scar line. Not much flesh covering and I can feel all the connectors etc.

I think it's mainly down to clothing rubbing. There's the temptation to scratch, but not recommended.
