quarterly remote transmission

This time it was a shorter quarter as I was there Aug. 25,2023 in the  pacemaker clinic for my yearly check up of my pacemaker.   Since it was a shorter time frame was better able to track my A-fib episodes.  Noticed again when i had reactions to my food sensitivites, was the same  time as the A-fib episodes.

In the comment section .  This time only had 191 atrial high rate episodes detected.  The longest lasted  0;04;16;37 in duration.  There was a 11.1% cumulative atrial arrththmia burden.  The best is there were  0 ventriclar high rate episodes detected.   Health  trend do not demonstate significant  abnormality.  I will continue with remote follow-up.

Battery life remaining 9.0 years.    Not pacemaker dependent.

Percent paced  RA: 53.7 which is down from the last time.

Percent paced  RV: 64.8 which is down from last time.

New to Pace, thank you for the update.  Although it only covers a short period, it is still useful to have your results and to compare them with mine. You are certainly getting a much higher burden of atrial arrhythmia than I am but I think you are clearly less symptomatic when you are in Atrial Fibrillation.  Can you actually tell when you go out of rhythym?  I certainly can.

I wonder how many of the 191 atrial high rate episodes were of long duration, since I noticed the longest episode recorded of Atrial Fibrillation was over 4 hours. I don't often get long episodes now, just fast in and out episodes.

Looking at the time you are paced in the right ventricle at 64.8 %, I was right down to 1-2% right ventricle paced at my last check, which is the percentage time I am in Atrial Fibrillation or other atrial tachy arrhythmia too.  On paper, my figures look really good, but as we always say, it is not those percentages, but how we feel that counts.  I think you are feeling pretty well most of the time, if I am not mistaken and certainly feeling better than me!

It is so helpful that you were able to correlate your Atrial Fibrillation episodes with certain foods so that you can modify your diet or perhaps even to cut these foods out completely for a trial period?  It would certainly be worth it to better control your Atrial Fibrillation.

Anyway, your results don't seem to be worrying them and you have plenty of battery life remaining, so keep on doing what you are doing new to pace

a-fib episodes

Thanks Gemita since you asked if i can tell when in A-fib cannot as most seem to be when i have  reaction to the foods i eat. For the long ones think i am watching one show on TV, next one appears.  The couple of seconds A-fibs are  still the food reactions.                                                                        Besides the 4 hour one  at 2am, there were 2-1hour, 1 for 1& 1/2hours, and 2 for nearly 2 hours.   In the Activity at Onset column most were at rest and only 9 when i was active.                                               The times i thought might be were not have no clue what they were.  One time i turned fast and had to sit down, not a recorded activity.  Or sitting in front of computer when my vision in my right  goes quickly and returns.                                                                                                          Have now stopped the Algal Oil,  Natto-serraime  and the Red Rice Yeast to see if  that makes any difference.  Will see how i do this next quarter with out them.  Still am taking the Turmeric supplement as it helps reduce my food senstivity, besides the blood thinner.

Just a few observations

by Gemita - 2023-09-23 02:22:00

New to pace, your comments about your symptoms, “one time i turned fast and had to sit down, not a recorded activity.  Or sitting in front of computer when my vision in my right goes quickly and returns” might need watching or reporting.

As we know providing heart rate is well controlled and we are protected from having an Afib related stroke, AFib is generally not a concern to our doctors, especially if the patient is not symptomatic.

Although I appreciate when you got the above symptoms, nothing was recorded to correlate the symptoms with an Afib episode, if these symptoms continue I would want them to be investigated in case they are in some some related to your Afib, to another arrhythmia or to something else.  I am aware you have some Carotid artery disease, although I think you mentioned this is closely watched and not significant at present?

When do you next see your cardiologist?  Hopefully you can discuss any new symptoms soon with a doctor, just to rule out anything serious.  I note that you generally get your Afib episodes at rest.  Have they looked for sleep related problems, particularly Sleep Apnea, which can be a cause of Afib.  Anyway just some thoughts to hopefully help you to stay safe

my well being

Again thanks Gemita.  Do not see the cardiologist until my annual visit in March.  My annual vist with my GP is Oct 6th, so i can mention to her about some of these issues. Have had these eye problems before and mentioned to the Retina Specialist.  Did take some blood tests but they were not high enough to be of any concern at that time.                                                           My acupucturist  is more concerned with my high levels of C-reative Protein and  Ferritin levels. Does not want me to have a stroke.  Which is why she recommends fish oil which i would not take because of the side effect of A-fib.  Which is why i was taking the Algal oil.  Which i have now stopped as suspected it to has a side of Afib.

other foods related to fast heart beats

I had also been avoiding foods that contain Tyramine which are Spinach, Soybeans, Green Peas, Chocolate and Tomato's.  That long one could be cuase i must have eaten  one of these.

Last night i could not sleep was under stress from something that had happened during the day.  Ate half of a container of Mocha almond fudge ice cream.  Thinking the almond would put me to sleep. Which it normally does.  The only thing i had  was the most viscous leg cramps from the calf  to the toe and hip. Even felt the pain in my shoulder.  Will try and eat the rest earlier in the day.

Learned my lesson no chocolate cake for my birthday and pizza without tomatoes.

Not surprised!

Oh new to pace, I love your idea of a healthy nightcap.  Half a container of Mocha Almond Fudge Ice Cream.  That sounds heavenly but a sure recipe for AF!

Cold foods, alcohol, hard cheeses, chocolate, caffeine and a high fat diet (even healthy fats like avocado) tend to trigger my AF.

No chocolate cake for your birthday?  I have a birthday coming up too.  Hope you have a happy one

yes i knew about the reaction to Chocolate

Thanks  and besides i just found out our local grocery store does not make them anymore.  They come in frozen from some place and are baked near fish.  On the label it say may contain fish, asked the bakery clerk if someone brings in the goldfish in a bowl an puts on the counter. Or maybe the fish walks or swims over to the bake shop.   If i want cake will have to bake my own as too many of which i cannot eat in these mfg. cakes.

The same to you Happy Birthday.
