Complete Heart Block GONE!!

Had my interrogation today. Got the same info that I was given one week after the Pace Maker was inplanted...complete heart block gone and pacing less than 1% of the time since inplantation., which was on July 18th. I just don't understand this. Of course, I am delighted that I don't have complete heart block but I am confused. The tech asked me if I was tested for Lyme disease while in the hospital. I have no idea. He also told the nurse that the EP told him that my Rhythm would not return (this same St. Jude rep was in operating room). My cardiologist's nurse is calling hospital for lab reports to see if they did test me. If the answer is yes...then fine. If the answer is no...then I will get the test and see what's what.

Right now, no matter what the answer to the Lyme test, I am wondering why they didn't put a temporary pacer on me to see if that took care of the problem. Anyone ever hear of complete heart block just disappearing after one week?

Vicki,
My 6 year old son has complete Heart Block. It has never been mentioned that it could go away. If it really has than you are VERY lucky. He has been having problem after problem with his pm.

Congrats!!

Vicki,

I am still amazed by your story. When I first went to the cardiologist they asked a lot of questions to see if I had any chance of being exposed to Lyme Disease. I didn't have it but the doctor told me then that any damage that had been done by Lyme Disease or any other possible illnesses would no go away and I would still need a PM. You are blessed!

Didn't you tell me that they were not planning on removing the PM in case it ever happened again? Hopefully I havent' confused conversations with someone else. Are they still planning on leaving it there just in case?

I am amazed too

No, they will not be removing it. Guess if I made a fuss they could..at least the PM but probably not the leads without a lot of complications. Something caused this heart block. I am lucky it is gone; but if I got it once I can get it again (unless I find out I have Lyme disease and maybe even then). So, I will keep my security blanket in my chest just in case. Earlier today I was very emotional and upset when I first wrote. I hope and pray I don't have Lyme disease.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
