You're fine to use them. I do it but was told to run the wire on my back not let it lie on my chest front.

Safe

It's never possible to say that something is "safe" with your pacemaker, because circumstances are different for everyone.

It's helpful to mention what sort you had in mind and possibly why you are concerned.

I'm assuming these are domestic items and either wired or wireless.

Wired types are pretty safe and won't cause changes or malfunctions of your device. There will be very small magnets in the earpieces as this is how small loudspeakers work. There are exceptions and earpieces that use piezo speakers like the ones in Xmas cards do not rely on magnetism. The magnet risk is very small.

If you are worried about interferences, the wired type don't pose any hazards because the flow and return of the electrical signals will cancel out any "noise" and the shielding of the cable adds to the protection.

Wireless types will use Bluetooth (2.4-GHz), the same frequency as WiFi and many other communication types. It's fair to say that there's no escape from this sort of radio emission and it's around you in any city or domestic situation. Bluetooth or its low power version BLE is in your mobile phone, possibly your pacemaker, your printer, your smart light bulbs.

You walk through it every day.

What makes it safe to this extent is the amount of information it can carry. It is so encrypted that the likelihood of data interference is miniscule. I have a load of 2.4-GHz devices and don't give the risk a second thought. Some encryption uses numbers so large that the chances of interaction are almost beyond possibility. 64 bit encryption uses numbers like 2 multiplied by itself 64 times. If you use Excel, put in =2^64.

After all that, enjoy your music or conversations.

thanks

thanks for your replies!

You know you're wired when...

You prefer rechargeable batteries.
