Had my PM implanted on 8/09/2007 and now in the recovery stage. There a lot of things I want to get back to doing. Golfing(normally 5 days a week), weight lifting (modified for PM), However, I will take my Doc's advice on the 60 days for golf and strennous exercise. I certainly don't want to pull a lead out. I found this group quite by accident and it is quite comforting to know that you can share your concerns with others in the same boat. I am still quite sore and black and blue from the surgery but so far have not had to take anything for pain.

I'm sure I'll have many questions as time goes by.

Thanks

Congratulations on finding this site. There is lots of wisdom and knowledge to be gained here. And comfort. Be sure to do what your doctor says and definatly take it easy on that arm. A pulled lead sure doesn't sound like any fun to me either. Check out the Exercise Forum to see what others have said about golfing and lifting. Please stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.
What is your diagnosis and what were the events that lead to the pm(I'm prying I know, you don't have to answer if you don't want to)?
God bless you friend,
Rusty

Symptoms

I don't consider it prying. Just did not want to make my first post too long. My diagnosis was SSS. This came on over a period of about 12 years as my heart rate gradually slowed. The Holter pegged witha a low of 35-38 bpm for 3 of the 24 hours tested with a hig of 52 bpm. My symptoms were light headed and extreme tiredness. I am 60 years old and have been retired for 3 years and will have plenty of time to read the many post in this forum and am very glad to have found it.

Thanks and God bless you also!

Golfing After Pacemaker

by blnmakerr - 2007-08-13 01:08:25

My pacemaker was implanted in February of this year and I played my first round of golf in June. My Doctor strongly suggested I wait at least three months before golfing....Don't want to pull out the leads......

You will find your golf swing may have to change (if you golf right handed and pacemaker is implanted on left side) due to your shoulder passing over the PM site....
That said, I have found my game is actually better after PM, but don't suggest a PM as a way to lower your handicap...

Good luck and keep your head down .......

Golf After PM

by mhkitchens - 2007-08-13 04:08:05

Thanks Blnmakerr. I'm happy your game improved. Mine can stand some improvement. I currently carry a 14 Hcp and would like to be 10 or less. Hopefully, the PM won't be an issue as I golf left handed.

Thanks and hit them long and staight.....

You sound like you are doing really well! I am glad you found this site. It is a great source of support and informaiton. You're wise to listen to your doctor about the golf...I know you'll miss it but it will be there in 60 days. Enjoy a nice walk in the meantime. Take care of yourself and ask all the questions you want.
