Chest pains

I am two weeks post lead replacement. (Failed medtronics recalled lead) for the past week I have had a number of episodes of debilitating chest pain - inability to breathe or move - Sometimes, but not always, preceded by sharp burning pains under my left breast. I ended up in the ER one night this week - and they ruled out punctures, an MI, wandering leads, infection and clots - but this is ridiculous - my left arm goes weird (not numb exactly - just puffy feeling) , my entire lower jaw aches, I can't breathe - and I feel like I am going to either die or pass out (either of which would result in a lack of sensation- and be okay by that point....) When this happens there is no relief from lying down or sitting up. It literally feels like my chest is full of pain instead of air. It lasts until I take enough pain medication to fall asleep. My cardiologist says there is likely some swelling as he enlarged the pocket with this surgery - and he thinks when the swelling goes down these episodes will pass. I have cardiomyopathy, lower left bundle branch blockage, and a hx of CHF. Any body have any ideas at all??????????? Thanks in advance for contributing to the possibility of my regaining my sanity as soon as possible. PD

Regaining sanity

This sort of thing can certainly challenge sanity. The likelihood of swelling as the cause seems suspect. Swelling usually produces a more constant pain and one that is affected by position. What you describe sounds more like pressure on a nerve. If it doesn't improve in another week you may need to be more insistent about it.

Sorry you are going through all this.

Stay sane,

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
