Interrogation/Fatigue

Hi!
I have had my PM for a little over a year now. I got the PM after a couple cardiac arrests caused by sick sinus syndrome. I've had very few problems since recovering from the initial implantation. I did have my PM moved under the muscle about 6 months ago and since then, I even forget I have it. I exercise regularly and am 40 years old, generally I've been feeling great.

I had my PM interrogated earlier today at my cardio's office. I only pace about 10% of the time in the atrium and about 5% in the ventricle. After my interrogation, I felt wiped out, completely exhausted. I really don't have any anxiety about my pacemaker checks etc. and look forward to seeing the data. Has anyone else felt really tired after an interrogation and if so, what caused it? Thanks!

I have had my interrogation 2 weeks ago. During that time I didn't feel any different, It did not affect me that way. . .

during, not after

I often feel funky when they're testing it but I'm fine as soon as they put it back to its regular settings.

I'm no expert, but whenever they make adjustments to my settings, I feel different for a few weeks. Sometimes I've had to go back because of terrible fatigue and that is when I find out they made a change. Their reason for not telling me---- if they told me, I'd be looking for a reason to feel different! Just more of the arrogance we put up with! Go back to your Dr. if you don't start feeling better!

Did they make any changes?

This is another reason to always ask for a copy of the pre and post interrogation reports. The only reason for a checkup is that some change was made that isn't working out. The interrogation can give some unfamiliar feelings during some of the tests where they change your heart beat. You should have felt those before though after having the pacer for a year.
With the printouts in hand it is easy to look for any changes that were made.

I never ask for a copy of the report, I just have them do their thing and go on my merry way! I'll call to see if anything was changed yesterday. I've had about 4-5 checks so far and none has made me feel like this.

My cardiologist is not the best to call with questions. Once they had set my rate drop so that if I went below 45, it would ramp me up to about 90. So if I was asleep, I would suddenly be wide awake and ready to go for a run. I asked my Dr about this and she told me I was experiencing anxiety about my PM. Later, I was back in the hospital hooked up to the telemetry wires and it happened, so I asked the nurse to read the report. He was able to see that I had been paced up to 90, so they changed the settings the next day. I think my doctor causes me more anxiety than my PM!

You know you're wired when...

You can hear your heartbeat in your cell phone.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
