Having a pacer repositioned

Hi everyone. I had my pacemaker put in in May 2007 and really have not had a comfortable day since. My pacemaker is very close to my armpit and borders on the edge of it. It limits my range of motion. It's uncomfortable to reach my left arm across my body to put on deodorant or reach for something. I still get pain and burning down my arm - not as bad but still get it. The area is still sensitive when touched. The doctor who put it is says "It's a little more lateral than she would like but does not feel it should be moved. She then states all the things that can go wrong with surgery to reposition it. I'm wonering if anyone has ever had their pacer repositioned, what it was like and if it helped. I've been dealing with it for 6 months and it's getting me down. If anyone has any info in this regard, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

WOW...I am so happy top hear this being discussed here. I have has all the same things happen to me...Have had a big fight on my hands with my EP. I thin k I finally have him talked into repositioning it under a muscle. However, I do have to wait till I get done with Rehab for an injury I got at the beginning of Dec on the same shoulder as my PM. CathrynB If you could send me an email about your experiences with this...I would really appreciate it very much.

Thank You
Gloria

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.
