I started reading the posts from this site about a month ago. You all have certainly helped me prepare for the big event and know what to expect. I am a 56 year old male with sick sinus syndrome. Had the PM implanted on Friday August 16 . I was in OR for about two hours. Doctor had said it would be take about an hour so my wife and daughter were definitely getting concerned. It is a strange feeling being awake during the operation and talking with the doctor and nurses. I could feel some tugging and pushing but nothing real painful. All went smoothly except for a little extra bleeding so the Doctor applied a pressure dressing. That was not very comfortable. I went home the next day after a long night in the hospital with very little sleep. The Doctor came by the first morning in the hospital and did some minor checks. I was well enough to go to work on Monday (I’m an engineer sitting at a desk). The discomfort around the “cut” is still sore. I did notice a little blood on my shirt at day five and applied a gauze pad until my week one check up. The one week check was positive and the doctor said I can get back to riding my bicycle. Thanks for the knowledge.
