Ayone set below 50

Pacers,
I have to start by saying I'm very lucky to have basically no ongoing issues or symptoms, and for this i'm very grateful.

I went for my 15 month check yesterday.I got a clean bill of health. The report said 8.5-11.5 years of battery lety...Bewdy!!.
I basicailly only get paced in the atrium when my heart rate is between 50 and 60 .my resting HR before PM used to be 44 and ECG showed RBBB.it was only when I had the holter test and had a dizzy spell that showed up as an episode of complete block 2 times 5sec and 8 sec pauses hence the need for PM. My ventrical is practically never pace, so my question is:.......(given that I do a fair bit of endurance running and riding 20k run 80k bike which can lower resting HR significantly)..my question :... can I get my base rate cut below 50bpm to maybe 45 bpm and cut the pacer use to almost zero.Which would be good long term i think. Anyone set below 50 ?

For the first 5 months mine was set to 50. During a follow-up visit last week we decided to reset it to 45 - but also turned on the sensor and low limit rate response was also turned on in case the pulse does not increase with exercise. I'm 58 and reasonably active - commute by bicycle, walk whenever possible etc. My resting pulse is normally between 50 and 60. I have chronic atrial fib and began experiencing long pauses a year ago. So far, this new setting seems fine.

Got pm last Oct. initially set at 60 - found it hard to rest at night. Was turned down to 45 - that made sleeping better, but felt like my heart was beating too hard and fast with normal daytime activity. They turned rate response off and I felt better within minutes. Basically now my pm only kicks in if my rate tries to drop below 45.

I'm 56 and an avid long distance runner also - 6 marathons before PM in 2002 and 5 more since (and numerous half marathons and soem endurance bike rides). My PM was initially set at 60 but within 3 months the cardio (after some discussion) lowered it to 45 to allow me to get some quality sleep. Been OK since. My resting pulse rate before PM was down to 30 at night. At work HR mostly sits at the lower set limit of 45. Also rate responsive was turned off at the early stage also.
For some reason last visit, last week, he convinced me to turn it back on - what a mistake - running is now a nightmare. What used to be consistent pulse rates while running are now all over the shop - up and down like the proverbials. Will be visiting him again very soon.
