Wife of Husband who died after getting PM

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to write you all back. I'm very frustrated. I just now got the death certificate, after two months! And I'm not surprised to hear everyone say that it wasn't their fault and that he died of natural causes. What bothers me is that I now have most of his medical records and he has had tachycardia problems from the very beginning. I don't understand why they've never put a defib in him. I also know that when we first found that he had a problem because they had put the 24hour heart monitor on him that his heart had stopped multiple times up to 6 seconds. I trusted that they were taking care of him by putting the pm in him. I thought that the pm was going to keep his heart from stopping. Well, now he's dead because he had tachycardia over 400bpm for over 4 minutes before his heart completely stopped. Is it just me or did the medical system really let us down?

have you been to a lawyer with the info? i would say that they need to take responsibility for their actions or lack of actions. this is just ridiculous. i hope sincerely you can sort this out. jessie

Loss Of Husband

by SMITTY - 2007-10-23 09:10:33

Please accept my condolences on the death of your husband.

The loss of a spouse is a very tragic event in itself, but when there are lingering questions like the many you must have, that certainly compounds that loss. As for what you should do, that is a question you will have to answer for yourself because you are the one that will live with that answer. I do hope you are able to get some suitable answers on the causes of his death, if for no other reason than to give you some peace of mind.

However, I do want to point out that I'm in total agreement with what Jessie had to say.

My wife and I lost a member of our family and we had questions similar to those you have, although compared to you, our experience was very small. We were fortunate in that we did get answers to our satisfaction and while it did not change anything, it did let us go to sleep at night without continuing to ponder the same questions over and over.

I wish you and your family the best in whatever you decide to do and will join many others in praying that God helps you through these very trying times.

Good luck,

Smitty

Deepest Sympathy

by Carol - 2007-10-23 11:10:14

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your husband. For your own peace of mind I too feel that you should present your husband's case to a lawyer versed in medical issues. In this way you will know if indeed there was some issue of neglect or negligence which contributed to your husband's death. I am in the medical field and know that mistakes are sometimes made with dire consequences. Please know that my prayers are with you. God Bless, Carol

defib vs. pm

by luckyloo - 2007-10-24 12:10:38

hello,

it certainly sounds like a defib should have been put in instead of a pm. defibs all now have a pm inside them that can be turned on or off so you get both with one device.

you may have a med/mal lawsuit....remember my private email to you?

these dr.'s need to be called on when they goof up. i am so sorry for the loss of your husband and your childrens father. it shouldn't have happened.

God bless,
luckyloo
