Job & PM

Hi,

Saw your post & wanted to respond. I am a nurse & had my PM put in @ 60 y.o but was already doing case management so much quieter than your job. I did/do go to medical apts & visted pts in hospitals, etc. So far it hasn't been a problem. Of course, I do no lifting & I suspect that & pace of your job would be something you &your doc would need to look at. Worse I have to watch out is the heavy chart lifting & altho wouldn't think so that can be a chore sometimes.

Good luck. Janet

Hi Michelle,

I've taken this drug before. I really didn't like it very much. It made me dizzy and i had an episode where my heart all of a sudden was racing really fast.(about 190) I thought I was having a heart attack. When my heart was racing really fast both of my arms became numb and i could barely breath. My husband called the cardiologist and he told him to take me to the emergency room. so my husband took me there i was put on the ECG and oxygen. So just to let you know about my experience with that. Just let me know if you have any questions.

I am an EMT

Hello Michelle,

I am 24yr female EMT in Kentucky. I have had a pacemaker since feb. 2007. I havent really had any problems concerning my job, the lifting is fine. I did have one incident where we had a guy that his defib was shocking him and i was scared to touch him. But i asked the ER doc and he said it would be ok....but i still didnt feel too comfortable. I have had some issues with mine though...trying to get the settings right. Im currently in the process of switching doctors because mine will just not listen to me. Im going in this weird rythm, chest pain, pressure. But other than that, i dont believe the job is interferring with the pacemaker. Yeah i dont get enough sleep sometimes and feel extrememly tired...you know our job! Im not on any medicine though so i cant help you with that question. But if you have any others feel free to ask me!

I was really worried about my job but i am glad to hear that it has not really been a problem with the radio freq. and stuff. thank you for all your help.

Hi,
I was also in the medical field but have had to take a break because of having too many heart surgeries all at once. I miss my job everyday taking care of others is something I enjoy doing. I think that if I had more energy I would be back to doing my work in no time. Sure you have stuff you got to becareful around but overall you still should be able to do your job. My problem is a little different when I do any movement just the wrong direction my hand starts spasming. I am sure things will work out fine.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
