Will Anyone Tell Me???

To Whom It May Concern,

Will anyone help me know if the HEARTBEAT INTERNATIONAL is sending used pacemaker to indigent patients? Was it allow for a patient to use a used pacemaker or old pacemaker? Help me please?

I'm a Board Member of Heartbeat International and can confirm the devices sent to indigent patients are not used or recycled. The devices are new and are donated by two manufacturers as they are considered surplus to their needs.

The only programs I have heard about are from the Major Pacer companys, Medtronic, St Jude and Guidant. They have forms that if a pt is unable to pay for device change out that they can " donate a pacer" if requested by a physician.
