Happy New Year to All

Hi PM Pals

Just to wish you all the best for 2009. Good health, happiness, and fortune.

I have not posted for a while because Christmas, for me, is a very depessing time. I am looking forward to a good New Year.

It is 48 years ago on New Year's Eve that I met my then to be husband Brian. We have come a long way from a couple of scrap kids that everyone frowned on for getting married. So many highs and lows in a lifetime but good has to come out of the not so good and the PM site has given me so much pleasure and contact with the world. Thank you all, and thank you Blake.

Brian has been very ill lately and it has been very difficult. But, each morning as we look out of the window in his study and see the scenery we give a silent thanks for all the years we have been together.

Take care Pals and I wish you all a great year.

Billie

My wife Mary died last year after 48 years of a very happy marriage. I miss her very much, but am grateful that she and I had talked about it a lot before the end. She did not want to wind up in a nursing home and we were able to make that happen.

I don't know your situation and wouldn't tell anyone how to handle such difficult times, but if you can don't waste the time you have together being depressed. As Mary put it "Keep your eye on the journey" .

best wishes,

frank

Long-timers!

Hi Billie - I have not posted for quite a long time as I seem to be busy all the time! I'm sorry Christmas is a sad time for you. It could be for many of us but we have to focus on all the good........like the many years you and Brian have been together. Hubby and I have been together 47 years! All of the above posts say we are all "determined", "survivors" who love challenge. I know of no marriage that has lasted so long that has not been challenged many times. Thing is, some of us stepped up and met the challenge. Cliff and I have had our share of ups and downs, spats, arguements, slammed doors to name a few behaviors. LOL It has all been worth it. We have 2 wonderful daughters, 2 great sons-in-law, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and everyone is doing well.

Billie, I know what is like having a husband who is ill. Cliff has now outlived 2 physicians prognosis by several months. Oct. 2007 they gave him 6 months on his lousy lungs. Guess he showed them that only God knows when it is time. We have treasured every day and look forward to the next. Okay, now I will get off my SoapBox and move on to the Knee Replacement Forum!

Warm wishes to you and Brian, Jessie and Frank who have also posted here. Here in the US we are praying for a much better year. With love to all.
