Had two week check up feeling much better

I went to see my rep two dats ago
Must admit I had been feeling angry about lack of information made available about my pacemaker so i think i may have come across as rude to the guy at first.
But he really opened my eyes to everything. And i must have been in there for at least 45 minutes.

I now know that i am in a-fib less than 1 % of the time
and that my pm is doing its job.I have my af suppression leads turned on.When I asked him about turning down the wattage he explained that in the first month they like to leave them on full and are also accumulating data about me.
I am told that I am pacing at about 28% which seems about right to me as that is when I guess i sleep at night. So overall I think it is just getting used to this little friend and trying to keep my anxiety in check.I dont think people realise what a huge psycholgical steep hill having a pace maker is .I am gratefull but still a little nervous.I think time will be a great healer.
Good Luck to all you newbies i understand
Love
Allan

Your anxiety is normal. It takes some of us a little time to adjust to the new friend. As much as they love you, family and friends without pacemakers just cannot understand the adjustment we go through. That is why this site is so valuable.

You sound great. I think getting as much information as possible helps. A meeting with the rep was a great idea. You'll find that you feel better every day.

Glad you're feeling a bit better at last, and are finally getting some answers.

When reading the posts from the members on this site, the lack of info seems to be a common thing for us on this side of the pond!

Keep well and take good care of yourself :-)

You know you're wired when...

You have a T-shirt that reads “Wired4Sound”.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
