Hammer throwing

Recently i asked for your advice regarding returning to the Hammer throw. for those that responded, thank you for the interest. If you dont know what hammer throwing is, check out u tube hammer throwing videos. . I have followed my DR's. advice and started slowly, so far so good . I have returned to wt. training and throwing the Shot Pt, Discus and Hammer or wt. throw. so far I have regained strength enough to train with regularity. I sure hope my understanding of my body helps determine my limits and potentials. We have a good relationship and I am going for it. Wish me luck. Gary

No one knows your body better than you do! Pay attention to it and don't push too hard. I think it is great that you are going for it. We all need to push ourselves a little.

I am heading off to check out the hammer throw right now. Do people do that in the U.S.? I have never heard of it before.

Hello "Hethrows2! I think your name is so clever! I do know what the hammer throw is and I have always thought it was very cool. I am a woman of 5'2" tall so I have never been able to "throw" anything very far even on a good day. I am very happy for you that you are able to return to your sport! How exciting. The only thing is .... return slowly and use caution until you are sure how your muscles in your chest are reacting. It might take some time but I feel it can be done. You sound smart about your health and I feel you are going to be fine. Good luck, thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing a photo of you doing your thing!

Okay, I think there are 10 different ways I could seriously hurt myself doing the hammer throw. I have never seen that before but the USA does have an Olympic team according to YouTube. How do you go about learning how to do that without hitting yourself in the head with that heavy thing? I am amazed!

You know you're wired when...

Like the Energizer Bunny, you keep going.
