Wii games

Has anyone heard anything about the Wii games causing any problems with the pacemakers? I was warned not to play the Wii.

I've had an ICD for 5 years and I'm pacemaker dependent, so paced 100% of the time, and I am able to play Wii all the time without any problems. If you have newly implaned leads, you doc will want you to wait several weeks before you do any motion that could dislodge them...I'd ask him/her how long to wait on that part, as everyone can be different. However, as far as mechanical .interference from the Wii, I've been given the OK to play by my cardiologist. If anyone has conflicting info that is new, I'd love to know about it also.

Sorry for the typo...supposed to say newly "implanted" leads.

There have been a lot of conversations about this recently if you do a search of the old posts. I play Wii all the time without problems.

My son is playing wii right now. At 5 years old, his pacemaker is in his abdomen (implanted when he was 18 months old), and the remote is currently about 4" away from his pacemaker, if that, and I'd say that's where he holds it for most of the "non-active" games, and he's experienced no "interference". He also does the "active" games with full arm motions (baseball, bowling, boxing, outdoor challenge, etc.) with no discomfort. We've had our wii for several months now, so if there was danger of interference, I think we would have had it by now--however, his pacemaker site is "old and healed", so I think we have little danger of damaging anything with normal motions (although his leads are probably a bit stretched by now, since he has grown about 3 feet since the pacemaker was put in). But I doubt that the wii will be the culprit if something happens. I guess you will have to be wary if you are still healing . . .
Good luck!

It is always a matter of how each person reacts.
For myself, I have never tried it. I was however in the same small roow with 4 controllers and never felt"right". I am 100% dependant on my PM and tend to be very sensitive to anything which happens with it, but there is my input.

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
