Tiredness

I wonder if my PM has anything to do with the extreme tiredness I feel whenever I drive or go go out in the car. Yesterday I went for a drive of about three hours. I was not driving this time as my husband is now able to drive again after his surgery.

I came back totally exhaused and slept for nearly four hours. This has been happening on shorter journeys. Whenever I come home after driving I feel totally wiped out and just crawl into bed. The rate response on my pm is switched off. My settings are low 55 high l60. Just thought I would ask.

Cheers to all.

With regard to the settings, it would be important to know why the device was implanted, if there are 1 or 2 leads, and how much pacing you do.

At a glance, you may need to have the rate responsiveness turned on, but judging by your lower rates 55 and higher rate 160, you likely had it implanted for a passing out (syncope with a pause.)

I would check with the cardiologist and if needed, have them put you on a treadmill and watch the heart rate, you may have developed a different electrical problem with the heart which now requires the rate responsiveness to be on. In addition, there are different levels of sensitivity to the rate response, so be sure to ask about them if needed,

I'm 44, active and have had my device for two years. I love it as I can run again and enjoy working out without feeling like I'm an old man.
