PLEASE HELP

I hope people aren't tired of my questions, and I apologize if you are. But I'd really like to know: what is the longest time it took for anyone's pain to stop with out additional surgical intervention? I have been told I need to consider repositioning leads and/or pacemaker, but I think I'm experiencing more than one kind of pain. And if a lot of the pain I'm having is nerve pain and/or keloid pain, I don't want to simply start that whole process all over again. One cardiologist says give it more time, but has no suggestions for dealing with the pain in the meantime. The other cardiologist and both surgeons say the sooner we do another surgery the better, but after all the surgeons are probably inclined to make recommendations based on on what they know and do best - surgery.

So the question is, how many of you had pain longer than 3 months, waited it out, and it got better? And how long did it take to get better?

Dear Vonnie,
As i recall it took at least 6 months for the pain to stop. The incision area heal on the outside then the keloid (sp?) started. Then inside healing took the longest. It seemed that it would get better then I would do something and it would be back. After the site healed over I spent some time everyday massaging the area which stimulates blood flow and the rebuilding of the nerves. It also made me feel better.
I hope this helps you. It worked for me. I believe that every time I enter the hosp. is another time to catch something, get the wrong meds, or they just do me in. I try to avoid them as much as possible.
Take care, pacergirl

Vonnie
Don't know that I can be much help, had PM upgraded to PM/Defib 11-19-07 and my site was only painful for about 30 days each time. Agree with pacergirl that massaging very lightly does help, also watch what clothing is worn that contacts site

Good luck
