Biotronic

Does anyone out there have a Biotronic two lead pacer that is a result of an Av ablation for atrial fib. and palpitations that requires 100% dependency? I dont read much about anyone who is 100% dependent. Kind of scary. Also with the pacer came a night monitor that checks it every night. It is right by my bed. Thanks in advance. DD

DD,
Mike here. I have a medtronic ICD/Pacer. Had my AV Node ablated and I am 100% paced. I have been fighting lots of heart problems and it finally came to this point. My ICD has 3 Leads although I am not sure if the Atrial lead does anything in my case. I think about it way too much and like you say, it is scary at times. Flip side - I would probably be dead or in very dire straits without it. I work, ride Mountain and road bikes, rock climb , lift weights and hike. Going up hill is hard and I go very slow at times but I just take my time and smell the roses. This summer I was able to ride 50 miles on a rails to trails route in 90 degree heat. It is weird and with the recall on the wires and all it causes me lots of anxiety. Oddly enough the best thing is to push myself physically. I would like to retire so I could exercise and move about more. It is very difficult to focus on any thing like work as I just want to enjoy each moment and get out of the rat race. You are not alone and feeling scared or anxious seems normal to me. My wife and family want me to take antidepressants but I already take enough meds and will try to combat those feelings with exercise and hobbies. Merry Christmas.
Mike
