Hi

Hello everyone - I have not been on here for some time due to family commitments, son being poorly, brother in law being in hospital etc but things are on the mend now.
It is getting cold now here in England and I find my heart condition worse - does anyone else have the same problems.
I have had this 2nd pm now for nearly 4 years and am dreading the replacement part. I have not felt as good with this pacemaker as the 1st one. (different model) That was in situ from 1987 - 2004.
As i dont feel as good, i think my battery will need replacing soon. On reading peoples comments about surgery it frightens the hell out of me. but I would not be alive today without it. On the other hand, it is nice to know that other countries seems to be more superior at cardiac surgery then here in the U.K. Maybe one day our Health Service will allow more cardiac surgeons to enter into our hospitals.
Hope I have not been boring you all
Regards - Fluzy Suzy

Hi Suzy.

It is certainly understandable why you haven't been around lately....life sure can get busy.

Have you had a pacemaker checked lately? Perhaps you need an adjustment?? You didn't say how or why you don't feel as good as before. Could it be some of your medications, side effects can cause problems.

And...I don't know if the cardiac surgeons are any better here in Canada!! I doubt it.

Cardiac Care in England

by Katielou - 2008-11-26 02:11:53

Hi from Bristol,

Thought I hadn't seen any posts from you recently. Glad to here that things are looking up for you.

I'm sorry to hear that your experiences of cardiac care in our country have not been all that you would wish but for me I cannot fault the care I have received. My cardiologists have been unbelievably good and their expertise and knowledge has been my saving.

I agree that the National Health may not be perfect but at least we have it and I know that I would not have been able to afford £25 - £30,000 for the ICD and all the aftercare I've received.

I felt it necessary to offer my thoughts as I would hate others to think that we don't have cardiac surgeons in our hospitals. The cardiac intensive care unit where I spent 8 weeks certainly has cardiac surgeons and they are all very good dedicated professionals.

Like you I have to go back in soon for a replacement ICD but I'm not in the least worried about it. A little apprehensive at the thought of being back in hospital but quite confident that I will receive excellent care.

I hope your replacement goes well and that the cold weather doesn't continue to make you feel unwell. Won't be too long and the daffs will be out again!

Take care and good luck,

Lesley

Thank you for replying to my message on here. It is great that people actually read them and reply to them. I have missed this site so much, but commitments come first unfortunately to me where poorly people are concerned.
I am due for a check on my pm after christmas. I might try and arrange an earlier appointment if they have one.
I just feel totally lethargic and people have said i dont look well. Maybe it is my medication i dont know, or that time of life (my age) getting the best of my. I have now turned 60 and have been relatively fit until recently.
God is good so i know i am in safe hands there. I have already died 2 times, 1st time i went to the gates and they told me to get back down, i was far to young (aged 36) second time, i was told i am a naughty girl and they only have good girls there lol. I was not taking my medication properly. So yes, it could be acombination of al.
Sorry to have been a bore with this long message, making up for it.

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.
