PM leads

Hi there good friends.
First of all in case I do not get back to you all in time for xmas, may I wish everyone a merry xmas and a prosperous new year.
Secondly, a question about leads. I had 1 lead from my previous pm then in 2004 had another pm implanted, taking the old pm out but leaving the lead in. The new pm had 2 leads, making 3 leads in total. How many can we actually have in situ. Sorry if I sound thick, maybe I am he he. but it is worrying me in case I have to have it changed again.
Regards
Fluzy Suzy

Hi,

I have the same thing. One capped off and abandoned and then two others.

My first surgeon told me they could pass two more on the other side for a total of five.
I haven't had to do that, but my second set of wires are very old (1982) and I've broken one already, so far.

I don't plan on a change, though. My new surgeon tests them during replacement and I'm usually good to go!

My first wire has been there since 1975 and hasn't been any problem, so far, even though it fell down into the ventricle in one big loop.

Don't worry about it. I'm sure your new leads will work fine for years.

Hope this helps!
Best to you,
Gellia
