new third lead

Well I havent posted anything for a while. been kinda busy with a newborn. I actually went into heart failure. They said it wasnt due to the pregancy. Meds didnt help get my ef back up so they had to replace my two lead pacer with a three lead pacer. I dont really know much about it or the differance. All the things that have been going on are kinda hard to keep up with. But i still dont feel any better!! I have had the change now for a lil over a month and i feel the same. I also keep noticing things really strong flutter feeling close to the outside of my chest. Anyone know what this is? Hope to hear from you soon!!

flutter

Re: your flutter - I would insist they check the "interval" settings and the voltage output settings - when they replaced my first PM they neglected to reset the setting - the factory interval setting for AV pacing is normally 160 Milliseconds whereas for me a 240 ms was much more appropriate - after much insistence by me that they needed to do something (although at the time I did not know what that was) they set my interval at 240 - well after the replacement and concomitant inappropriate interval I felt that "flutter" until once again my not-so-mild personality made its appearance known and the doc soon discovered why I was being such a pain in his rear. We retweeked the settings to what they should have been and my flutter went away and I found another clinic.

Upgrade to a BVICD

I imagine that you have developed a post-partum cardiomyopathy and as a result of this, your symptoms, and the change in your EKG upgraded you to a Bi-ventricular ICD. Adding the 3rd lead to pace the left side of your heart to try and strengthen it.

The full explanation for this is quite long so I'll keep that short.

The feeling that you have may be the position of the new 3rd lead. Sometimes a nerve (phrenic) runs near where the lead is places and can cause side effects. It may need to be turned down some or (gulp) repositioned.

Good Luck-
