Will it ever end!?!?

THIS IS MY 3RD TRIP TO THE CARDIOLOGIST THIS YEAR!!! I am sick of the one I saw the last 2 times- he has a one-track mind and can only focus on one symptom at a time despite the fact that I HAVE MULTIPLE SYMPTOMS. My parents have to drive 2.5 hours down and 2.5 back and waste all that gas just for him to tell me to suck it up and take Tylenol (that was last time). Yesterday, he ordered a blood test to check my thyroid and then he put me on a Holter moniter, which is the worst thing mankind has ever invented. Mymom was going to get a pedicure for her birthday today and while she was doing that, she was going to let me look around the bookstore where I was planning to get her birthday gift. I feel like I just ruined everyone's day! Oh yeah, my health project was due today, and sice I was literally gone all day yesterday, it's nowhere close to being done! I just needed to vent... a lot.

Hang in There!

Aw, Syd.

Sorry to hear of your frustrations. I have to agree with TraceyE that your parents are not thinking that you are ruining anything. They care for you much more than you know and would do anything to see you better. Besides, birthdays aren't the same the older you get!

And whiile Holters and blood tests can be an annoyance, they are some things the doc can do to help you. And both are pretty short lived. :) I had a holter a few years ago and had to wear it while teaching...what a pain because I had to dress like a bum and not shower! :) Most teachers are pretty understanding in your circumstance, so give them the benefit of the doubt on allowing you extra time to complete your project. Just plead your case. :)

Feel better!

annoying

I really hate doctors like that! How frustrating for all of you. Holters really suck, but hopefully it will find the problem.

I've been in your situation, worrying my parents and dragging them all over the place for appointments. Once I ruined a vacation by passing out five minutes after we got there, all we saw of Williamsburg was the hospital! I'm a parent now and I can see that my parents never saw it that I "ruined" anything. I felt that way but they just wanted me to be well and happy. I doubt your mom is thinking that you ruined her birthday. Get the monitor off then pick another day to go out with her and celebrate her birthday.

Good luck getting the project done! Put on your very best pitiful face when you ask for an extension.

uvagershwin,

Hi! The holter monitor is a good test to have done when you have heart problems. Read my bio and stories on my member information.

Hi Uva,

My goodness I thought I was having a bad day for a few hours until I read your post. It does seem as if you have a lot to deal with, so sorry to hear that.

These things will pass and the docs will eventually figure it out. Just hang in there. You are not ruining anyones birthday or anything else.

I can't help but wonder where that awesome person is that loves Gershwin? How is she? I miss reading her post.

Take care, hang in there and blessings to your wonderful parents...
